Tanzania’s Oldest International School
Founded in 1952 by the Greek community in Arusha, SCIS has grown to become the largest international school in northern Tanzania. Proud of our Greek heritage and guided by our motto Pan Metron Ariston (“Everything in Moderation”), we continue to provide world-class education in a beautiful campus at the foot of Mount Meru.
The shield depicts a Greek fisherman’s boat. Good fishing, like good education, requires persistence, courage, patience, self-reliance and wisdom.
The sailor represents Odysseus on his 10-year journey through many challenges, guided by Athena’s protection.
Just as Odysseus persevered, our students are supported to overcome obstacles and achieve their goals.
Our Greek forefathers remind us:
“Everything measured correctly in one’s life will lead to excellence – wisdom lies in balance.”
ΠΑΝ ΜΕΤΡΟΝ ΆΡΙΣΤΟΝ – Pan Metron Aristron
An ancient Greek maxim meaning “Everything in Moderation”,
guiding our students towards balance, wisdom, and excellence.
At SCIS, our mission is to provide a British-style education in a Tanzanian setting that inspires excellence, curiosity, and resilience. We believe education should go beyond academics to nurture character, creativity, and compassion.
As a proud Round Square school, our values are grounded in the IDEALS of internationalism, democracy, environmentalism, adventure, leadership, and service. These principles shape our teaching, our community, and the way our students grow into confident, globally-minded young people prepared to make a positive difference in the world.
SCIS offers a complete journey: Nursery (ages 3–4), Primary (Years 1–6), and Secondary (Years 7–13). Students follow the Cambridge curriculum through IGCSEs and A Levels, with a strong focus on personal, social, and leadership development.
The wellbeing of every student is at the heart of St Constantine’s International. We believe children flourish when they are known, cared for, and supported in every aspect of their lives.
Our pastoral system goes beyond academics—providing a strong network of tutors, housemates, counsellors, and teachers who guide students through challenges and help them build confidence, resilience, and a sense of belonging.
Belonging Through Houses Every student joins a House, recognising the Greek heritage of the school. Through sports, music, debate, and cultural events, Houses build teamwork, leadership, and lasting friendships.
